According to a research by the ‘National Institute of Health’, frequent smoking of cannabis can significantly increase a person’s risk of heart attack and stroke. This research, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, used data from about 435,000 American adults. And it is one of the largest studies to date exploring the relationship between cannabis and cardiovascular events.
The study, funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), part of the NIH, found that cannabis, cigarettes, and tobacco were associated with a 25% higher chance of heart attack and 42% of stroke compared to non-use of the drug. Was associated with greater probability. Less frequent use also increases the risk of cardiovascular events. Weekly users appeared to have a 3% higher chance of heart attack and a 5% higher chance of stroke.
